Bassa Local Government was once the most peaceful Local Government in Kogi State. The two major ethnic groups in the Local Government are Bassa Okwuma and The Ebiras. They lived together as one big indivisible family Before this unruly and Worthless killings started. The tribes were all living in harmony amongst each other, every tribe were allowed to peaceful go about the normal farming and business until the egbira people of Kpance community allegedly  abused the tradition of the Bassa people.

Information from an insider alledged that, the Youths in Kpance physically abuse the Bassa people's masquerade. The masquerade group on the hand violently reacted  which later turned into clash between the both ethnic group from that community leading to the death of two traditionalist from the bassa people.

This aggrieved the bassa people as they saw it as a breach of their custom and tradition and in turn they repelled the attack killing one person from the egbira ethnic group . This act of one tribe being attacked and the other trying to defend led to this great massacre today because eventually they both started developing this act of being superior to each other and hence ignorantly they resulted in violence to show who's who in bassa local government. The lives properties and aspirations of those they have killed unjustly and for no apparent reason .

All attempt to restore peaceful coexistent put in place by some peace loving individual to end this menace is being thrown to the trash as all they both do is make contributions among themselves all in bid to this cold and unjust course.

According to the Insider, the presence of Nigeria  soldiers in bassa local government are only felt within Oguma the headquarters of the local and has  zero or no effort to curb this killing as most of the killing are done in the remote villages.

We beckon on the government at the top because it seems at this point the government at the grassroot have zero or nothing to do about . with heavy hearts and lots of dead bodies to bury we call on the government to come to our rescue lives have being lost even at the point of this write up who knows who's next? It could be me 😭
